What's My Surf Level

Are you unsure of what level you are at and what type of lesson to take?

Beginner - Day 1 Group Lesson or Private Lesson
"I've never surfed before..."
"I've surfed a few times..."
"I did a lesson over a year ago..."

We start with the basics and go over the below skills:
Surf equipment
Surf etiquette
Ocean safety
How to safely fall and protect your head
How to pop up
How to avoid a nose dive
Paddling
How to pick a wave (whitewash)
Timing: When to paddle and when to pop up
Surf stance on the board

By the end of the lesson, you'll have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to keep improving on your own. Surfing is a journey that takes time and dedication, and consistent time in the water is the key to progress. Our experienced instructors will provide real-time feedback, helping you refine your technique and eliminate bad habits, allowing you to progress faster and enjoy your surfing experience even more.

When should you move from Group Day 1 to Group Day 2?
If you've completed a Day 1 lesson and feel comfortable in the water, understand the basic safety and surfing fundamentals, and can consistently stand up and ride whitewater waves, you're ready for Day 2.

Beginner Day 2 Group Lesson or Private Lesson
"I can stand up on my board consistently..."
"I feel comfortable in the whitewash..."
"I want to progress to green waves..."

We build off the basics and go over the below skills:
Forecasting
Learning to catch unbroken green waves
Angling your take-off - going left or right
Reading waves and choosing your wave
Paddling technique

Why take a private lesson?
A private lesson offers focused coaching tailored to your ability and goals. With your instructor’s full attention, you’ll progress faster through personalized feedback and real-time corrections. When conditions allow, you’ll also get the opportunity to paddle out and practice catching green waves.
