Were back from our sixth annual Surf Sister staff trip. This year we went to
Nicaragua and while our Salsa skills are fading as quickly as our tans, our memories
of the amazing trip and the people we met along the way are still going strong.
We spent two fabulous sun-soaked and surf-filled weeks with the crew from Surf
Tours Nicaragua, experiencing not only the incredible waves (did I mention the
all-day offshore winds?), but the amazing people, culture and natural beauty
that make the country unique.
Along with us to document our surfing and expeditions was the film crew from
Rush HD TV, courtesy of our sponsor Billabong. They caught us on camera at our
best (and worst I'm sure) both in and out of the water, following us to the beach
for 5am sessions, up an active volcano, and also into Latin night clubs where
I would hope the cameras were not rolling. You can tune in this month to catch
snippets of our trip on the Rush HD network.

We can't wait to do it all over again next year!

Creba, Surf Sister Instructor, in Nicaragua
Cori chats about sunset rides, the surfing rush and washing machines.
Most notably this year, the Surf Sister instructors benefited
from a training retreat to Costa Rica with training offered
by Kim Hamrock, 12-Time U.S. Women’s Surfing Champion (www.dangerwoman.com).
Jenny also hired a professional photographer to shoot the girls
while they surf as part of their technique critique and training,
and to take pictures of the girls in Billabong’s 2008 surf fashions.
Not a bad perk!
At the end of this dynamic training retreat, the instructors
not only received their certification, NSSIA: National Surf
Schools and Instructors Association, but they also had fun in
the sun and enjoying the surf.
Last year, Jenny took her staff to Kauai to obtain their Life
Saving Certification from well-respected ocean safety expert,
Paul Durkin (www.aquaticexpert.com). Prior to the Kauai trips,
Jenny has also trained her staff in Baja, Mexico.
